In the Transition from Winter to Spring

I live in Boston, which is a cold place. Every year, as winter comes to an end, I feel like I can see, feel, and hear the steps of spring approaching. However, the cold weather always persists, often bringing me back to the harsh reality of winter. The feeling of despair seems like the darkness just before sunrise. But as we all know, once you’ve witnessed the sunrise, you realize that all the waiting and hopeless feelings were worth it.

There’s a Chinese poem that says, “不经一番寒彻骨,怎得梅花扑鼻香。” “Without experiencing the piercing cold of winter, how could the plum blossom have its fragrant aroma?” So, I remind myself to be patient and wait for spring to arrive. Just like in our lives, there are always good things ahead of us. If we are patient enough and keep moving forward, we will eventually reach them.

When I saw this photo (taken in Japan), the beautiful spring scenery made me dream about it. It’s true that spring hasn’t arrived yet, but I can let this painting fill my heart with hope.
