Kirifuri Waterfall at Mount Kurokami in Shimotsuke Province

This is a realistic depiction of Kirifuri waterfall, one of the three famous waterfalls of Nikko. Particularly impressive is the coloring of figures are shown-a group of travelers standing in admiration at the base of the fall, and a pair of travelers scrambling on the slope of the mountain to the right of the fall.

葛饰北斋 诸国瀑布览胜 下野黑发山之瀑

19世纪30年代随着日本人民经济生活的富庶，各地旅游开始盛行。人们开始造访国内的名胜山川和古迹。由此引发的“名所”也就繁多了起来。“名所”也就如我们今日所能看到的景点。“名所绘”也就是名胜风景的绘画，逐渐多了起来。葛饰北斋取材于各地瀑布景观，绘制了《诸国瀑布览胜》共八幅。《诸国瀑布览胜 下野黑发山之瀑》里非对称且不规则的瀑布不缺乏装饰的形式美感，画面中的人物同样庄严肃穆的在看。
